R.J.s Bird’s Nest offers a variety of age-appropriate learning experiences to develop intellectual, social, self-confidence, and decision-making skills. Children will learn STEAM, language, motor, and self-help skills through educational activities and experiences prepared by our Certified teachers. Our classroom curriculum also emphasizes physical health, dental health, personal safety, fire safety, tobacco prevention, and nutrition. The Director and Staff of R.J.s Birds Nest are trained professionals with over 50 years of combined experience in Early Childhood Education.

PHILOSOPHY
As early care professionals, we promote the benefits of guiding children’s behavior, realizing children rely on us to teach them how to reach developmental milestones such as stress management, healthy emotions, conflict resolution, and prosocial behavioral skills. Curriculum is an important component in guiding a child’s behavior. We foster a child-centered environment with interest centers of math, reading, science, drama, art, blocks, manipulatives, and music to prepare developmentally appropriate activities keeping children both engaged and intrigued. Theorist Maria Montessori, a pediatrician who used her science practices in the field of pediatrics to observe and determine the needs of children, believed children should not only learn by play but also, through language, life skills, and experiences. This supports the Oklahoma Early Learning Guidelines as they promote environments that foster all areas of development and challenges for children to learn according to their growth patterns. NAEYC Code of Ethics’ Principal 1.2 says, “We shall care for and educate children in positive emotional and social environments that are cognitively stimulating and support each child’s culture, language, ethnicity, and family structure.” R.J.s Bird’s Nest has carefully adopted our philosophy based on the studies and theories of these two pertinent contributors to the advocacy of early childhood education and development.
